![]() While researcher-to-researcher training is ideal for teaching protocol-specific surgical procedures, this paradigm may be less effective for teaching foundational principles of aseptic technique, intraoperative care, and postoperative analgesia. Historically, 100% of rodent survival surgery is conducted by research faculty or staff, with operators trained by more experienced research personnel. ![]() The majority of animal research conducted is performed in mouse and rat models, and a substantial proportion of this research requires rodent survival surgery.
